| The main function of the trade union is to safeguard the employees' interest and to arrange collective bargaining in the workplaces. Women seem to be more likely to protect their interests collectively. According to the BérBarométer database the rate of trade union members is higher in industries which are dominated by women (health care, education) than in "manly" industries (woodworking industry, construction industry). Theoretically, there is a greater possibility in these workplaces that the principle of 'equal pay for equal work' is observed. In order to put it into practice, however, the trade union activists should raise awareness, assess the situation and take the necessary measures. |  |
