There might be several reasons for such a pay gap between men and women that is larger than that of the industry (we could see that in the previous modules). In this case the following circumstances should be taken into account as well: the proportion of men and women in the company, the breakdown by age groups of employees, the matching of the level of education and the position, the size of the company, etc.

If the pay gap is smaller than that of the industry average the following things should be taken into consideration: the results of the company, the work organization, the market (company marketing), the appropriateness of the product structure, the quality of the products, productivity (product per employee and / or working hour) and its dynamics, the intensity of work, etc.

The analysis of the role and the importance of the trade union should not be disregarded during the wage bargain: whether it has enough power to put pressure and how this power can be increased. We note that the European researches prove that the ability of the trade union to put pressure is in direct proportion to the concentration of the trade union. In case of the so-called two-chanel models (like the Hungarian model), the close cooperation (often personal union) of the works councils and trade unions makes the bargain position of the trade union stronger.
