| The diversity and the dissimilarity of the sources make the comparison difficult. As time series are not available for all the countries, analysing the time progress is not an easy task and the results might only be accepted with reservations. The surveys of the European Community Household Panel (ECHP) refer to the period of 1994-2001. The European Union survey on income and living conditions (EU-SILC) was started in 2004 comprising 13 old Member States, as well as Norway and Iceland. It was expanded to the EU 25 in 2005. |  |
