1.We can conlclude that Eurostat ECHP/SILC survey shows a smaller pay gap compared to SES (Structure of Earnings Survey). This might be the consequence of the fact that Eurostat took the wages of the employees working in the public and business sectors into account. The analysis of the long time series, though it has to be accepted with reservations due to incomplete data and problems relating to comparability, reveals that the difference between men's and women's wages shows a decreasing tendency.

2. According to Eurostat ECHP/SILC survey during the decade under study the difference of men's and women's wages did not change significantly. It is characteristic, however, that this change was not necessarily linear, but abrupt appearing from one year to another. This does not necessarily reflect reality but the contingency of the data.
