The European Committee launched its new action plan on 2 February, 2005. Within the framework of the renewed goals of the so-called Lisbon Strategy this action plan aims to provide sustainable development for the EU and its Member States and to create more and better jobs. As the result of the measures the GDP would increase by 3 percent and 6 million new jobs would be created.
